A beautiful collection of 17th century Cantiones Natalitice (Christmas Songs set for several voices), as they were then sung in mainly in Flemish churches during the Christmas period. Some of these songs had then already been known for at least a hundred years, and a great many of them are being sung to this very day. They were accompanied on the organ or by several instruments and sung either in Latin or in Flemish, the vernacular tongue. The original material has been very carefully reconstructed , and is performed here by Camerata Trajectina as always in accordance with the musical practices of their time of origin.
